On 4 September, the Uus-Veerenni Quarter received a new kindergarten that can be described as innovative in many ways. The kindergarten caters primarily to the children of Uus-Veerenni, but if there are spaces available, it can also welcome children from families living nearby. It is situated on Tiiu Street, right next to the Uus-Veerenni Park.

The modern two-storey kindergarten occupies a generous plot of 4,819 square metres, with the building itself covering 2,125 square metres.

The building’s vibrant and colourful architectural design sets it apart from the residential structures in Uus-Veerenni. It is the only enclosed property in the quarter, ensuring a safe and joyful playing environment for the little ones.

During the construction of the Uus-Veerenni kindergarten, we carefully considered several user-friendly features, including:

  • Secure chip-controlled access for parents and teachers to the kindergarten grounds and its various rooms.
  • A modern and versatile outdoor play area.
  • As an innovative and practical feature, direct access to the toilets from the outdoor play areas.
  • A dedicated gate leading to the Uus-Veerenni Park.
  • An energy-saving solar park installed on the roof.

As noteworthy as the architectural design of the new building is, so is the operator who began running it this autumn. Namely, the new kindergarten is part of the well-established Kalli-kalli kindergartens. The Kalli-kalli kindergarten in Uus-Veerenni has four daycare groups for the youngest family members and five kindergarten groups. Several groups have their own special focus, ensuring a suitable growing environment for children from all kinds of families.

Two Estonian-language and one English-language group focus on project-based learning. The kindergarten also has a language immersion group, where children can learn either Estonian or English. In partnership with the Estonian Montessori Association, the kindergarten has also introduced a Montessori group, and there are plans to open a second one next autumn.

The Kalli-kalli kindergarten will serve as the community hub for the entire Uus-Veerenni residential quarter, offering a wide range of family services, including diverse classes for both children and adults, the opportunity to host children’s birthdays, summer kindergarten services and city camps. To facilitate these services, the kindergarten boasts spacious and well-lit halls, which can be partitioned with soundproof barriers if necessary. Furthermore, the institution will offer various support services for children, such as play therapy, psychological counselling and speech therapy.
