Kindergarten being constructed in Uus-Veerenni

A new, state-of-the-art kindergarten building will be completed in the summer of 2023 in the residential quarter of Uus-Veerenni. The kindergarten will provide greater convenience to the residents of Uus-Veerenni, with Merko’s total investment in the project amounting to five million euros.

A competition to find an operator for the new kindergarten is underway. The opening date of the kindergarten, located at Tiiu 8, and other details on enrolment will be revealed this autumn. Decisions will be taken by the kindergarten developer Merko in cooperation with the partner who will run the new preschool in the future.

“Uus-Veerenni will be home to about as many people as there are residents in Rapla. A kindergarten close to home offers greater convenience for families with children,” said Alar Toomik, development manager of the Uus-Veerenni residential quarter. “The environs around apartment buildings are very important to home buyers. We are developing Uus-Veerenni in such a way that, in addition to high-quality homes, our customers can also enjoy comfortable urban space and essential services close to their homes,” added Toomik.

A new modern kindergarten complex will be built for approximately 150 children. The two-storey building and the adjoining outdoor area border a park being built by Merko. The keenly-awaited preschool is primarily intended for residents of the Uus-Veerenni apartment buildings, but if there are free places, it will also offer an opportunity to children from the neighbouring areas.

Uus-Veerenni, located between Veerenni, Vana-Lõuna and Tehnika streets, is the largest comprehensive housing development area in the centre of Tallinn. The quarter, which is being built in stages and has a total area of about 12 hectares, will have nearly 50 residential buildings. Today, residents have moved into more than 20 buildings and the construction of 15 apartment buildings is underway.

In Uus-Veerenni, in addition to residential buildings with diverse architecture, Merko will also build new streets and paths for pedestrians and cyclists. As a complement to the landscaping and courtyards built between the residential buildings, a public park of over 8,500 square metres will be completed this autumn, with playground equipment for children of different ages and a recreation area for adults. As another example of public buildings, construction of a Uus-Veerenni commercial building is currently being prepared.
