Merko discontinues support for competitive sports

Starting in 2021, we will focus our sponsorship activities on three fields – recreational sports, civil engineering education and training, and Estonian culture and artistic heritage.

As a founding member of Estonia’s recreational trails foundation, Eesti Terviserajad, Merko has over 15 years invested in renovating and building hundreds (and thousands of kilometres) of trails and bike paths, which offer Estonians the chance to get exercise and maintain their health conveniently close to home. We will continue to support the recreational trails project.

As a construction company, the future generation of engineers and builders is very important to us. In cooperation with the Tallinn University of Technology Development Fund, we award scholarships to engineering students, young teachers and researchers. Merko’s sites provide multifaceted internship opportunities for future construction sector personnel. Using lectures and tours of job sites, we make civil engineering education more hands-on and bring more young people to related fields.

Estonian culture and artistic heritage are close to our hearts. We have helped create possibilities for people to get acquainted with various cultures and art forms in Estonia and have supported architecture projects. We will continue supporting the culture and art field so that both Estonians and our visitors can take pride in the heritage.
