Merko to construct the Metec factory building and an extension to St John’s School

Merko Ehitus Eesti signed two contracts in November. In Tartu County, we will construct the Metec factory, and in Tallinn, the gymnasium building of St John’s School.

The Metec factory site is situated in Tõrvandi, Kambja municipality, Tartu County. The new factory will have house production and storage areas, as well as a two-storey structure for utility and utility rooms. Asphalt roads and parking spaces are planned on three sides of the building. We will also contribute to the planting of trees.

Construction works will start at the beginning of 2023. The handover of the building to the customer is planned one year later, except for maintenance and landscaping work, which will be carried out when the weather permits.

In Tallinn, construction work will begin at St John’s School in Nõmme. Before the start of the current school year, we handed over the primary school building and home church to the customer; now we will construct an extension for St John’s high school students.

Construction work on the extension, which will architecturally follow the style of the two-storey elementary school building, will begin in December. The new building and a gallery connecting it to the extension will be completed in the autumn of 2023.

The construction project for St John’s School, which began operating in its newly completed premises this autumn, has received widespread recognition. The building, constructed by Merko, was nominated in the Wooden Building of the Year competition; recently, the school family was also recognised by the Nõmme District Government who gave the school an annual award for raising the spirituality and enriching the educational landscape of Nõmme. This could not have been done without the new building, so Merko has certainly played its part in the school receiving the well-deserved recognition.
