In the sphere of social affairs, we support the Tilsi Children's Home that provides shelter for 65 children. There are a total of five families, each with its own name: The Midri family, the backfamily, the rightsiders, the leftsiders, and the manor maidens.
We wish to help the children of the Tilsi Children's Home to find possibilities for living full lives and broadening their horizons, and provide them with colourful experience by helping to organise their trips and tours. See also http://www.tilsilk.edu.ee/.
As part of Merko's summer event, a ferry trip to the island of Gotland in Sweden was held in August 2008. We took the best students of Tilsi with their teachers along with us on the trip. During the day on island were visited the caves of Lummelunda, one of some 92 local medieval strongholds and walked in the old town of Visby.
From 11 to 12 September 2008, we organised a two-day trip to Tallinn for the children of Tilsi. The kids went to exhibitions at KUMU, enjoyed an artists' meal and created unique pottery or a T-shirt as a keepsake in various workshops. The children also went to the Coca-Cola Plaza for a cinema experience.
On 20 May 2009 we opened the grill house in Tilsi Children's Home with summer grill party which we gave as a gift to the children's home. Tilsi Children's Home can celebrate summer festivities and organize different smaller outdoor events. The new house accommodates 16-20 children, i.e. exactly one family of children's home. The terrace and outdoor grill enable to attend the party with nice weather by the whole residents of children's home.
The basketball ground was finished in Tilsi Children's Home by the Midsummer Day of 2010. The family of children's home wished to get the playground for the bigger children and in the course of long discussion and consideration the decision was made that basketball is the one which is, was and always stays popular.
